Göktaşlar Et, based in Gaziantep, has taken a significant global step in the field of live animal transportation by acquiring one of the world's largest live animal transport capacity shipping companies from Australia-based Wellard for 82 million Australian Dollars (51 million USD). Göktaşlar Meat – Meat Products, Related Industries, and Trade Limited Company was founded in 1998 by Şerif Göktaş on an 84-acre plot of land. Operating in the meat sector until 2006, the company expanded its field of activity at the end of 2008 with a modern livestock facility built on 500 acres of land with a capacity of 73,000 head of cattle. Today, Göktaşlar Meat has become a major player in the global meat trade, exporting red meat and live animals to 18 countries.
Göktaşlar Et will continue its operations under the name Meteors Shipping, the shipping company it has acquired. With this transaction, Göktaşlar Et aims to strengthen its position in international markets by enhancing its logistics capabilities in the live animal trade.
